Fire crews tackle barn fire in Shrewsbury

Firefighters have been tackling a barn fire involving 40 tons of woodchip in a biomass boiler.

Fire crews brought the blaze under control

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Aston Rogers, Westbury, in Shrewsbury, this evening at approximately 5.30pm.

Six fire appliances were mobilised from Minsterley, Oswestry and Shrewsbury to tackle the fire, which reportedly involved 40 tons of woodchip in a biomass boiler.

Crews are currently damping down the rear of the building with assistance from Mid and West Wales Fire Service.
