Shropshire Young Ramblers held itsfirst litter pick walk at the weekend, focussing attention on the Rea Brook Valley Nature Reserve in Shrewsbury.

Spokesman, Victoria Thornton said: "We obviously enjoy the outdoors and want to help protect the local area so that we can all continue to enjoy our walks. For our first event we focussed our attention on the Rea Brook Valley Nature Reserve, a really beautiful spot in Shrewsbury town.

"It was a very successful event with over 12 bags of litter collected in just a couple of hours. We would like to thank the council for providing the bags and litter pick sticks and we hope to have another litter pick walk later in the year."

Shropshire Young Ramblers is a walking group for young people in the Shropshire area and is part of the Ramblers Association.

"We have a walk on most weekends and often have social events and weekends away for our members. We currently have members ranging from their early 20’s right through to about 50."

Shropshire Young Ramblers is always looking for new members to join us and more information can be found about our group on our website syr.org.uk and about the Ramblers at ramblers.org.uk.
