Peter in comeback to museum role
The former curator of Shropshire Regimental Museum is making a "comeback" to take the reins until a permanent replacement is found for Christine Bernath, who left the role this month after four years.
Christine is taking up a new position as assistant director of the Gurkha Museum in Winchester.
She had succeeded Peter Duckers, who had stepped down as curator of the regimental museum, based at Shrewsbury Castle, at the end of 2013 after 16 years.
"I'm going back to the museum. I said I would step in for a couple of days a week, and I will be going in on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting from Monday August 6," said Mr Duckers.
"I will be the acting curator, ensuring there is a presence there, and keeping the place ticking over."
Despite ending his role of curator he had continued to be a museum trustee.
"I did not entirely sever my contact. I used to go to trustees' meetings and that kind of thing. I always had a kind of presence and would occasionally go back to say hello to people. I didn't vanish from the scene."
He said he would continue until a permanent curator was appointed, and would then help them as they settled into the role.
