Woman 'seriously injured' in two vehicle crash near Oswestry

A woman has sustained 'potentially serious injuries' in a two-vehicle crash near Oswestry.

West Midlands Ambulance Service received reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4398, Maesbrook at 7.55am on Thursday.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford – with a doctor and critical care paramedic– all attended the scene.

The ambulance service confirmed that one of the drivers, a woman, was trapped in one vehicle and extricated with help from the fire service.

The woman sustained potentially serious injuries and was given treatment on scene before being taken by ambulance, in a stable condition, to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle, a man, was found with an injury not believed to be serious.

He was given treatment on the scene before being conveyed by ambulance to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks.

West Mercia Police officers attended the incident and closed the road in both directions.

They advised people to use an alternative route or avoid the area if possible.
