Ruth Goodman, who has been involved in countless television history based series and guested on The One Show and Bake Off, called for coffee at The Fat Rabbit, a plant based restaurant in Bailey Street.

Owner, Linda Clark, said when she saw the The Fat Rabbit's famous pancakes and dairy free ice cream she said she would return later in the day, which she duly did.

It is not known why Ruth, who lives in Buckinghamshire, was in the area.

Linda said: "Some of the staff serving at the outdoor tables recognised her and let me know she was here.

"One of the benefits of working in hospitality - and let’s face it, there hasn’t been many in the last year - is getting to meet all our lovely customers.

"Ruth was lovely and very complimentary about our pancakes."

Linda said that while offering a takeaway service to customers had been a bonus during lockdown, it was wonderful to be back serving at the outdoor tables, including The Fat Rabbit's new, secret garden.

"People go into the world of hospitality because of the customers. We have all really missed them over the last few months."
