Lynda and Dave Jones were in their Oswestry home on Friday evening when thieves entered through the rear of the house, stole multiple sets of keys then sped off in their Audi RS.

West Mercia Police is investigating the theft, which occurred at about 9.25pm on Friday, but officers told the couple it is unlikely the grey vehicle will be recovered.

Mrs Jones admitted to being shaken by the whole incident, and upset following Friday’s theft.

She said: “They had come through an unlocked garden gate and then through a door at the back. We were upstairs and then I just heard the distinctive sound of a car engine, and ran to the front bedroom but by that time the car had gone.

“We’ve been left angry and upset by it all, you don’t expect someone to just walk into your house like that and take the keys.”

Mrs Jones said she did not want it back because of the way the thieves may have driven it.

Police have told the couple they think the thieves were watching the car for some time before it was stolen.

Mrs Jones added: “The police think they were watching the car and the house, because of the time it was taken.

“That is such a scary thing.

“I don’t think the car is coming back now.”

West Mercia Police is now appealing for information.

A spokesperson said: “West Mercia Police received a call on November 24 following a report of a burglary in Oswestry.

“The offenders have gained entry into a property on Oak Drive and stolen car keys for an Audi RS3. The have fled the scene in the stolen vehicle in the direction of Whittington Island."
