The Whitchurch Makers Market will be held on the same day as the town's annual Party in the Park, with organisers promising food, drink, art and craft.

The market, to be held on June 3 in the High Street and Bullring, will feature music from local guitarists while shoppers fill the streets.

Organiser Lisa Baldwin said: "As summer arrives in Shropshire our traders will have the warmer days in mind with a whole heap of summer inspired food, drink, art and craft.

"Our talented artisans who will be showcasing with us are set to inspire, whether it's creative street food, a cheeky tipple, award winning food produce, art, craft, design or vintage that rocks your boat, we have it all.

"With massive scotch eggs from Aunty Mo, award winning jams from The Berry Baker, pies from Cumbrian and Stokes, plus local honey from Border Honeys Bee's and fresh meats from Adderley Wharf, those shopping bags will soon be filled."

The event will also feature traders including the The Bridge North Pie Co and Cheshire Cheesecakes as well as French Corner, Carslake and Birlings.

The Makers Market runs events around the county as well as in Cheshire and Manchester. The Whitchurch event is held on the first Saturday of each month.

However, the upcoming market coincides with Party in the Park as well as the Worldwide Whitchurch Weekend, taking place from June 2–4.

For the celebration, o the Friday evening at 6pm there will be a free buffet supper, choral concert and dance show by Maggie May’s Dance Academy as Whitchurch plays host to guests from other towns called Whitchurch around the country.

Over the rest of the weekend, there will be an ale trail led by CAMRA, an organ recital at the Masonic Hall and canal boat trips.

Party in the Park will kick off on June 3 from 1pm in Jubilee Park with live performances from Hazah, Vodka Jellies, Lilly Boughey, and Paul Henshaw & the Scientific Simpletons.

There will also be entertainment including Paul Hand’s Bees & Trees with mice and willow weaving, Lego sessions, a climbing wall and cage football.

Ms Baldwin added that the market, on the Saturday, hopes to show off local talent.

She said: "There will be a whole host of local artists at this event to feast your eyes upon.

"We have Jane Jewellery, Litteria Photography, Bevs Bunting, Indigo, Hollie Childe Art, Chicken Shed, Glass V and Siliver B, to name just a few.

"We're also telling shoppers to get those gardens ready with handmade local furniture from The Red Brook Joinery and summer blooms from Anne Turner at Garden Craft."
