Pedestrian taken to hospital after town centre collision

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Welshpool.

The town centre was blocked off to traffic on Friday afternoon as police and paramedics dealt with the emergency.

The alarm was raised at 12.48pm.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic accident involving a pedestrian on Broad Street, Welshpool. We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, and one person was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.”

Police said that the road was reopened at 2.50pm.
