A burst pipe meant homes in Guilsfield near Welshpool found themselves without a water supply from 8.45am.

Severn Trent workers were on scene in just over half and hour and were able to get supply restored to the vast majority of people within an hour.

Spokesman, Sarah O'Kane, said: "Workers were able to rezone the water supply very quickly. It meant that just 21 properties were left without water for the morning while the burst was fixed."

"We apologise for the inconvenience, it is very difficult to be left without water, particularly on New Year's Day morning when what a lot of people need is a cup of tea. Thankfully our workforce had most people back on supply within the hour."
