West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance were called to a serious incident on Telford Road at around 12.32pm on Thursday.

Emergency services were informed a 56-year-old woman had fallen from height, and the Midlands Air Ambulance was called.

However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jamie Arrowsmith of the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.32pm yesterday afternoon to Telford Road in Bridgnorth.

"We were called to reports of a patient who had fallen from height.

"We sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.

"On arrival, we discovered one patient was a woman. Unfortunately it was confirmed that nothing could be done to save her and she was announced dead at the scene."

The incident saw the road closed for a considerable time on Thursday, with West Mercia OCC advising people to take alternative routes.

Spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, Lucy Kelly, said the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

She added: "Police were called shortly at approximately 12:37pm on Thursday to reports of a 56-year-old-woman requiring medical attention on the A442 in Bridgnorth.

"Officers and the ambulance service attended but sadly, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed.
