Zac, from Broseley, has an extremely rare form of childhood leukaemia called Near Haploid, and needs to travel for specialist treatment unavailable on the NHS.

People across the world have come together to help to raise the £500,000 needed to get him to America, where he will be able to receive the specialist CAR-T therapy in Philadelphia.

Zac’s family announced last week that the total had been reached after a mysterious £100,000 donation to the youngster’s cause.

And now the first steps are being made towards the trip to America.

How you can continue to help:

Zac and his mother, Hannah Oliver-Willets, have had their visas for the trip.

"On Monday my sister and I drove down at 3am to the American Embassy for a medical visa interview," she said.

"Zac and I have been approved for our visas. We are now currently waiting for the funds to clear from the just giving page, into the trust fund to enable the trust to pay the hospital in Philadelphia for Zac's treatment."

The rest of the family will be travelling separately, depending on when visas are issued.

Hannah said she was waiting for the funds from the hugely successful crowdfunding campaign to clear so that she could book a flight and pay for the treatment.
