Four fire engines, including the water rescue unit, police and ambulance were sent to Bridge Street at about 11am today.

The two people managed to get out the river before the arrival of the fire service.

Elsewhere police in Shrewsbury were called to Victoria Quay last night after a man was restrained by door staff because he was trying to get into the river whilst drunk.
