Two more coronavirus deaths confirmed in Shropshire

Two more coronavirus patients have died in Shropshire hospitals.

Both of the patients died on Saturday but their deaths were confirmed by the NHS today.

It means 323 people have now died in hospitals in the county after contracting coronavirus, while 188 people have died in care homes in Shropshire.

One was in the care of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, where 298 coronavirus patients have now died, and the other was in the care of Shropshire Community Health Trust, where 20 people have died with Covid-19.

Five people have also died at the Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry but there have been no coronavirus deaths reported there since May.

In Powys 140 people have died with coronavirus since the pandemic began, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Meanwhile the UK-wide death toll increased by 407 to 75,431 on Monday.
