The data, which analysed average advertised salaries in the UK’s key industries in 2017, compared with 2016, found that the top three industries for a pay rise in 2018 are:

1. Hospitality – pay up 10.4 per cent

2. Automotive – pay up 10.2 per cent

3. Agriculture – pay up 9.5 per cent

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “The agriculture industry has certainly been hit hard by Brexit, largely due to the fact that it is heavily reliant on migrant labour. New figures have revealed that large agricultural businesses in the UK have seen their revenue fall for the second year in a row but it’s clear that employers are remaining defiant, and are clearly willing to pull out all of the stops in an attempt to attract the very best talent.”

"What’s more, job creation across some of the UK’s main industries continues to soar, with agriculture vacancies rising by 13.9 per cent in 2017.
