Barbers auctioneers are preparing themselves for an exciting trade at the Market Drayton Christmas prize show and sale tomorrow (December 5).

Last year the news at Market Drayton was about breaking records. More show cattle appeared than ever before and Bernie Hutchinson, Barbers auctioneer, commented on the superb quality of the collection.

This year there is approximately £2,000 to be won in cash prizes and voucher awards. The mayor, Councillor Mrs Debbie Parker, will present the 12 silver cups and trophies, which are competed for annually. There will be a wide range of classes for cattle, sheep and calves.

Judging will be ably conducted by Mr Geoff Nutter of Messrs Bowland Foods of Preston in Lancashire for the cattle classes and Mr David Wright of Derbyshire for the sheep.

Barbers would like to thank their 32 sponsors for their ongoing support and look forward to seeing everybody on the day.

As Bernie says: "Let's hope this year will be even better than last. With more classes on offer this year we hope to see even more animals and quality forward. Please don't forget you can request the show results and weekly market reports by subscribing to 'My Barbers' on the website www.barbers-auctions.co.uk."
