Boy racers are targeted by police in Market Drayton
Police have issued warnings to boy racers driving at speed through Market Drayton and performing dangerous manoeuvres.
Drivers have been seen doing doughnuts on car parks in the town.
Concerned residents contacted police after seeing vehicles doing dangerous manoeuvres in the town's Towers Lawn and Lidl car parks.
The issue has been causing a problem in the town for years, with residents complaining about engine noise late at night.
West Mercia Police said two section 59 warnings were given to two young drivers on Sunday evening after receiving the complaints. Last month police announced that new CCTV will soon be installed in the Towers Lawn car park in a bid to tackle the ongoing issue of boy racers in the area.
The town's first ever Drayton Drivers event was attended by more than 60 people in June. It was organised as another step to tackle the boy racer issue in Market Drayton.
Constable Mick Sturland, of West Mercia Police's safer neighbourhood team for Market Drayton, said: "We have issued two section 59 warnings to young drivers after receiving complaints from members of the public that vehicles were doings doughnuts in Towers Lawn and Lidl's car parks.
"This now means that if these individuals are seen driving a motorised vehicle in an anti-social manner during the next 12 months police will seize the vehicle.
"I would encourage anyone who witnesses someone driving in an anti-social manner to report it to the police.
"When calling get good descriptions of the offending vehicle or driver/rider including a registration number if possible.
"Wheel spinning, doughnuts and hand brake turns are all examples of anti-social driving and will earn you either a warning notice or your car will be seized."
Police said that they take incidents of dangerous driving very seriously.
Last year police said they would use new powers to crack down on speeding motorists and boy racers following a rise of complaints in Market Drayton.
The problems saw residents near the Towers Lawn and Queens Street car parks complain about engine noises late at night.
Anyone with information about anti-social driving should contact the police on 101.
