West Mercia Police confirmed they made the discovery at a property on Ellesmere Road in Shrewsbury.

They had been called to the address at around 8pm on Monday over "concerns for the welfare of a 25-year-old man in a distressed state".

The man was taken to hospital and while at the property officers found a cannabis farm, which they said had been seized.

West Midlands Ambulance Service had also attended and a spokesman said: "We were called by police at 8:14pm last night to concern for a patient’s welfare in Ellesmere Road, Shrewsbury.

"We sent one ambulance to the scene. On arrival, crews were presented with one patient, a man. He was treated at the scene before being conveyed to hospital for further treatment."

Police and paramedics were still at the scene opposite the Robson Stores Spar two hours later.
