£30,000 drugs haul seized in Telford police bust
Drugs with a street value of £30,000 have been seized in Telford the latest of a series of arrests across Shropshire.
Four people were arrested in the latest Telford bust, which took place in the Hadley area on Tuesday evening, with suspected crack cocaine and cash found during the search.
The four - two men aged 44, a 35-year-old woman, and a 43-year-old man - were all arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft, and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
The raid, carried out by a dedicated West Mercia Police team set up to tackle organised crime, came after officers arrested six other people for possession of drugs with intent to supply earlier in the week – two in Oswestry, and four in Shrewsbury, who were arrested in the Quarry.
Those arrests came after people were stopped and searched for suspicious behaviour.
An adult and a youth were arrested in Oswestry, with a number of class A drug wraps seized.
Telford Detective Chief Inspector Billy Scott said the latest raid in the town had been carried out in their bid to find people responsible for a series of diesel thefts in the area.
Money, class A drugs believed to be crack cocaine, and cannabis were all discovered at the property.
DCI Scott said: "Drugs with a substantial street value were recovered."
He added that the value had been estimated to be in the region of £30,000.
Action
"The arrests are part of our continued fight against serious organised crime across Telford & Wrekin and the rest of Shropshire," he said.
"It was done as a result of intelligence and policing on known criminals out there.
"We are taking action to stop these people and will increase it over the coming months."
Since it was set up, the team, which works with CID officers, has secured a number of high profile results, including a man arrested on suspicion of £900,000 of money laundering, and a host of drugs arrests.
DCI Scott said its work was making a difference to people across the county.
He said: "It is a fantastic asset, a great team that is doing great work with proactive policing.

"There is some targetting with intelligence coming through but a lot of it is being out there, being visible and if things do not look right then taking action."
Last November the team carried out Operation Vulture on the county's roads, seizing £20,000 of cannabis and £3,000 in cash.
In total they stopped 245 vehicles, arresting 12 people and seizing cannabis, class A drugs and cash.
Nine of the people were arrested for drink or drug driving, two for drugs offences and one for taking a car without the owner's consent.
Six vehicles were also seized because the drivers didn't have insurance.
A follow up to the operation last month saw a further 15 arrests and 200 cars stopped in the Bridgnorth area.
