Witness threatened as gang attempts to steal cashpoint

A group of men attempted to steal from a cashpoint and threatened a witness in the centre of a Mid Wales village today.

A member of the public saw a vehicle stop at Market Square, in Llanrhaeadr, between 2am and 3.30am.

It was reported that the group of men got out of the vehicle and were acting suspiciously near to a free standing cash machine.

The witness was threatened by one of the men, before the group got back in the vehicle and left the scene at speed.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the vehicle in the area.

She said: "Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a vehicle in the area between 2am and 3.30am on Friday, January 25.

"Anyone with information that can help officers with their investigation is asked to report it by calling 101.
