Police today urged people to contact them to report all instances of anti-social and intimidating behaviour. A neighbourhood watch meeting will be held at the end of the month.

Teenagers are thought to be responsible for weeks of problem behaviour, from riding bikes and scooters on pavements and in front of cars to intimidating elderly and vulnerable people and smashing windows.

A driver was left shocked when a group of young people threw a rock at a car in Cabin Lane, hitting a side window. The culprits ran off down a pathway.

Jody Wilson, who saw what happened, said he thought the group was aged between 10 and 13.

On Friday a group was seen throwing traffic cones into the road by the Cambrian medical centre and also 'playing chicken' with buses at the nearby bus station.

Town councillor Nikki Hughes said she was worried that there would be an accident.

"Bearing in mind that our ambulances are stationed at the medical centre and have to leave at speed, not to mention regular traffic, an accident is going to happen very shortly," she said.

Town and Shropshire councillor Clare Aspinall said there have been several issues recently, particularly in eastern Oswestry.

"I have spoken to the Oswestry CCTV group and we are putting a mobile camera up in the Cabin Lane area," she said.

A Neighbourhood Watch meeting will be held in the Community Centre, Cabin Lane, at 7pm on January 31.

Inspector Tracy Ryan from West Mercia Police said the police were aware of the rock being thrown at the car and a window being smashed at the One Stop Shop in Cabin Lane.

"We are in the area canvassing residents to discover the scope of the problem and the identity of anyone involved. Once that is established we will be able to determine what intervention is required. I would appeal to anyone with any information to report it via 101 or email the Safer Neighbourhood Team on oswestryc.snt@westmercia.pnn.police.uk.

In December Oswestry Mayor, Sandy Best called on the Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion to attend a town council meeting to hear about the problems in the town.
