Two arrested in Telford County Lines drugs swoop

Two men were arrested in Telford today as part of an investigation into County Lines drug dealing.

The men were stopped in Waterloo Road, Ketley, after their car was spotted by West Mercia Police.

Officers had been warned that the silver car, which has been linked to County Lines dealing, would be in the area.

When it was stopped, they found class B drugs and a large amount of money.

A number of police cars, as well as unmarked cars and a dog unit, were sent to the area, outside the Shropshire Star offices.

Detained

The men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

Jon Taylor, detective sergeant for the proactive CID team, said: "We had intelligence today that a vehicle was travelling to Telford in relation to County Lines.

"We have had officers in Telford looking for that vehicle. We've seen it and put a stop on it.

"Two men were searched and detained for further searches. Class B drugs were found, and there was a large amount of cash.

"They have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs."

County Lines is the practice in which dealers from big cities exploiting people in rural towns including those across Shropshire as a conduit for selling drugs.

They often target vulnerable people in an effort to use their homes as a base from which to deal drugs.
