Waqar Hussain, 26, carried out the arson attack at a property, in Crescent Road, Hadley, in revenge after he was injured during a disturbance the previous year.

He went to the home of his attacker Amjad Hussain as a result of a feud between families.

The incident happened in the early hours of September 16, 2016.

The jury heard he went to the front of the property with another man and set alight two cars parked on the driveway. Both of the men were wearing masks.

But Shrewsbury Crown Court heard that five witnesses recognised Hussain, due to his height and his distinctive walk.

He arrived at the scene with a shorter man who sprayed a liquid, believed to be petrol, on and around the cars.

The fuel was then lit, and as this was happening the owner of the property, Amjad Hussain, who was the defendant in the previous case, along with others in the house spotted Hussain when they looked out of the window.

A verbal exchange took place with Hussain shouting an abusive word, before he and the other man fled.

The fire service was called and Hussain was arrested a short time later at a garage near Trench Lock.

Hussain, of Chapel Terrace, Wrockwardine Wood, denied a charge of arson reckless as to whether life would be endangered. He told officers investigating the matter that he was at home at the time.

Waqar Hussain was the victim of a violent assault involving a group of males in September 2015, when he was stabbed.

His assailant Amjad Hussain was not charged with wounding, but with an offence of affray and was given a community order.

Waqar Hussain was due to be sentenced today and was given bail.

Judge Peter Barrie thanked the jury for its deliberations.
