Daniel Mark Williamson, 25, of Woodland View, Treflach, Oswestry, was further remanded in custody pending sentence at the end of the month.

He appeared in the dock at Mold Crown Court yesterday charged with reckless arson – that at Ger y Llan in Meifod, on March 14, he damaged by fire a Ford Kia belonging to his former partner Melanie Simm.

Judge Niclas Parry – who described it as something of a revenge offence - said that he would be sentenced on April 26 after a pre-sentence report had been prepared by the probation service.

He warned Williamson to prepare himself for an immediate custodial sentence.
