The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested with another man from North Yorkshire earlier this year.

The pair answered bail on September 6 and the 65-year-old from Ludlow was rebailed to December 15 while further enquiries take place.

He was arrested at an address in Shropshire on January 29 and a 66-year-old man was detained at an address in North Yorkshire.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of rape and other sexual assaults on a teenage girl more than 20 years ago.

It is alleged that the offences took place in Horsham, Sussex.

Michelle Tugwell, media relations officer for Sussex Police, said: "A Shropshire man, aged 65, and a man, aged 66, from North Yorkshire answered bail on September 6 and have been rebailed until December 15 for further enquiries.

"The two men were arrested at addresses in Shropshire and North Yorkshire on January 29 on suspicion of rape and other sexual assaults on a teenage girl in West Sussex during the late 1980s and early 1990s."
