Warning issued after burglaries and car thefts
Homeowners have been warned to be on their guard following another theft of a car where a burglar broke into a house to get the keys.
A grey three series BMW coupe was taken from a property in Wistanswick, near Market Drayton, between 4.50pm and 5.30pm on Thursday. The burglar smashed a door window before taking the keys and making off with the car, reg N70ALB.
The theft follows two similar burglaries in north Shropshire where cars were also taken.
On November 6 a Porsche Boxster car was among the items stolen in a daylight burglary at a home in Shawbury.
Keys to the silver vehicle were among a number of items taken during a break-in at a house in Wytheford Road. The burglar broke into the home through the back door.
And the following day, November 7, burglars stole a BMW car from a home in Hodnet after breaking in and stealing the keys. This time entry was made via the garage with the thieves causing £800 worth of damage.
Richard Ewels, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said the police are working on the possibility that all three burglaries are connected.
He said of the Wistanswick raid: "Any witnesses or anyone with any information on the whereabouts of the vehicle or the identity of the thieves is urged to contact Market Drayton police station on 101.
"Officers are investigating a possible link with two recent burglaries in north Shropshire where cars were also taken."
He added: "They are also liaising with neighbouring police forces as part of the investigation."
Mr Ewels added information can also be passed via the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
