Power cables stolen as thieves strike again
About £2,000 worth of live copper cables have been stolen by thieves climbing electricity pylons in the dead of night – for the second time this week in Shropshire.
The latest theft happened between 3.15am and 7am yesterday morning in a field off Woodhouse Lane, Kingswood, Albrighton.
About 300 metres (984ft) of live overhead power lines were removed.
It follows a theft on the A41 Chester Road in Hinstock, near Market Drayton, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Around 1,000 metres of live copper cables were taken.
A spate of similar thefts were reported earlier this summer in Tong, Albrighton, Much Wenlock, Monkhopton and Sutton Maddock.
Police spokesman Richard Ewels said: "With the public's support we hope we can find the people that are doing this."
