On-the-run man is wanted in Newport bank raid plea
A fugitive who had been serving a life sentence was today named by police as a suspect in an armed robbery at a bank in Shropshire.
Detectives this afternoon issued a photograph of Martin Dawson, 49, who they believe may be able to assist their investigation into the robbery at Newport on June 29.
Dawson is currently on the run after absconding from Sudbury Prison in Derbyshire on June 24. He was serving a life sentence imposed in 2000 for robberies, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and attempted escape from lawful custody.
During the robbery at the Britannia bank in High Street, a cashier was forced to hand over cash.
