Lauren Capes-Bursell, of Hadley, has been raising money for Telford & Wrekin Young Carers during the school holidays and spent Wednesday collecting donations outside the Asda Living store at the Wrekin Retail Park.

The 16-year-old and two friends were packing up the collection tubs at about 4pm when Lauren noticed her bag had disappeared.

Her mother Vanessa said: "I am sure you can imagine how upset and angry she was. After dedicating so much time trying to make a difference to someone else's life to find within a split second someone else managed to change hers. She's been distraught."

Police are investigating the theft and ask witnesses to contact them with any information on 101.

Lauren and her friends are planning a Zumbathon tomorrow at 10.30am in the sports hall at Telford College of Arts and Technology as part of their fundraising.
