Telford fish and chips pair are frying high with award

“We’re over the moon,” say the owners of a new chippie on wheels, after it was named among the 10 best in a national takeaway business award.

Alan and Trish Kelly set up their Trish & Chips mobile enterprise just before the coronavirus pandemic struck.

But their hard work and dedication to the estates its serves paid off when they were named in the top 10 best mobile fish and chip units category in the Fry Awards.

The van visits areas including Lightmoor, Woodside, Tweedale, High Ercall and Acton Burnell, near Shrewsbury.

Alan said: “We are both over the moon to have achieved such a great award, especially under such trying times.

"It’s our first year as a mobile unit so we are very proud of this achievement. It is a great honor to be included in Fry Magazine’s top 10.

“We work so hard to bring the best food to our customers.

"We were lucky to be allowed to operate during the pandemic. We hope seeing our van turn up brings a little normality.”

The Kellys based at Cuckoo Oak Industrial Estate, in Halesfield, impressed a mystery diner who gave the mobile the thumbs up for more than 40 aspects including food quality and service.
