Hayes Barn in Oswestry was refused planning permission to use the premises as a restaurant and drinking establishment.

Shropshire council planning officers refused the application because of the dangerous of the road outside the bed and breakfast.

Planning officers also said the development was also likely to give rise to disturbance and noise in the area likely to cause significant adverse impact on the quality of life for local residents.

Following the decision planning officer Vincent Maher said: “As planning permission has now been refused any continued use of the B&B as a pub/restaurant is unauthorised.

“If further breach of the planning regulations occurs, Shropshire Council will need to consider all of the options available to it that could prevent an ongoing breach.

"The decision to take any action would be based on appropriate evidence and expediency at that time.”

Louise Johnson-Rose of UK Surveyors, who submitted the application on behalf of Hayes Barn said they are exploring every avenue and working with officers to come up with a solution.

In a letter to the Shropshire Star, owner Sophie Dillon expressed her disappointment at the planning application being refused, and is hoping a compromise can be reached.
