Former Lindstrand site in Oswestry snapped up
The former home of Lindstrand Balloons in Oswestry has been snapped up by an unnamed buyer, it has been revealed.
The property on the Mile Oak Industrial Estate was available through Cooper Green Pooks of Shrewsbury, with a price tag of £600,000.
Previously occupied by Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons, the site totalled 1.12 acres, and attracted a "flourish" of offers from a variety of owner occupiers, the agents said.
Alice Walton of Cooper Green Pooks, who handled the sale, said: "We are pleased to have concluded the sale on behalf of our client proving the strong demand for freehold industrial property in Shropshire."
Unit MO45, as the site was known, fronted onto Maesbury Road, and came with car parking.
The agents said it suited a variety of uses, including as a trade counter, industrial site, office, storage and distribution warehouse, and for development.
It is surrounded by a trade counter and industrial units.
The site became available when the famous hot air balloon manufacturer closed its factory early last year.
The famous company, which provided balloons for Richard Branson on his cross-ocean expeditions, blamed global terrorism and the strong pound for its woes.
Since then, Per Lindstrand, who had sold the company to Bristol-based Cameron Balloons several years ago, has restarted balloon making through his current company, Lindstrand Technologies in Oswestry.
