Galliers Homes is set to relaunch four development sites in the region, saying it has noticed a big upturn in the market.

It is the latest positive signal that the economy of the county is emerging strongly from the recession.

Mothballed plots around Shrewsbury and its surrounding villages as well as in Llanymynech will be developed under plans revealed today.

It comes as the company joins with Staffordshire builder Cameron Homes, in a move which sees both coming under the umbrella of Chasetown-based Tara Developments.

Galliers Homes last completed homes two years ago, but is now set to spark its operation back into life as the housing market continues its return to form.

Cameron's managing director Ian Burns, who will also take over the lead role at Galliers, said: "We saw Galliers as a good inward investment opportunity, and we bring a very competent senior management team who can take the Galliers name forward.

"Our timing reflects the state of the housing market and our confidence in it."

Details of the exact number of houses, the size of the investment, and the number of jobs to be created as Galliers cranks up its building programme will be announced later.

The first two developments appear likely to be on a plot of land at Llanymynech, and at Ingleby Way, off The Mount, in Shrewsbury.

Bellstone-based Galliers will also open a new sales and marketing suite in new offices in Shrewsbury early this year.

Cameron will remain focused on West Midlands-based developments, while Galliers will remain concentrated on the Shrewsbury area.

Nigel Clarke, who will remain in charge of the Galliers Properties arm of the business, said: "This partnership will be of real benefit to the regional economy, creating jobs and providing much-needed, high quality new properties."
