However the administrators stressed today the company was still trading and its aim was to protect as many jobs as possible.

It is believed that around 30 people were told they had lost their jobs yesterday, although that figure has not been confirmed. Many more are employed by the independent family firm, which has been trading for 27 years.

Begbies Traynor, a recovery and insolvency expert, said today it had been appointed as joint administrator for Incasep Ltd.

A spokesman said: "There were some redundancies yesterday but the company is continuing to trade and we are negotiating with customers.

"The intention is to sell the business and to protect as many jobs as possible."

The company was set up in 1982 as a plant hire and agricultural machinery specialist.

The spokesman for Begbies Traynor said: "The company has a turnover of around £20 million a year."

He said all creditors were being kept informed.

"We are writing to all the creditors about the position. Our aim is to save the business and we are seeking partners and in negotiations with various people."

Greyhound Plant Services has been involved in building and civil engineering projects across Shropshire, Powys and the West Midlands.
