Enta Technologies, the Telford-based distributor of computer products and software, and its B2B ISP sister company Entanet, are in the running for the prestigious 2006 CRN Channel Awards.

Entatech, which was founded by Jason Tsai 16 years ago, employs just under 70 people at its distinctive Pagoda-style building on Stafford Park.

Entanet was started as a separate venture in 1996 and has since become established as one of the UK's largest and most highly-rated internet service providers.

It employs 40 staff, also at the Stafford Park location, and operates its own nationwide network of main connections (Points of Presence or POPs) to the internet.

The awards are presented every year to companies that are delivering the highest levels of service and support to IT resellers.

Computer Reseller News is the UK's leading IT trade publication.

In addition, Entanet has been named on the shortlist for the Service Provider Channel Program in the 2006 Channel Network Awards, which are supported by the leading business publications Comms Dealer, Communicate, Channel Business andÊIT Europa.

Enta Technologies has been shortlisted in three separate categories - Systems and Components Distributor of the Year, Networking Distributor of the Year, and Software Distributor of the Year.

Entanet meanwhile has been placed on the final list of candidates for the Specialist Vendor of the Year award.

Vice-president of Entatech Jon Atherton said it was the second year in succession that Entatech has been shortlisted for three separate categories in the Channel Awards, regarded as the Oscars of the UK IT business.

"Entatech is now firmly established as one of the UK's top IT distributors and that's something everyone here can take pride in. Being shortlisted for three awards for two years in succession shows that we are delivering a consistent high standard and our efforts are being recognised right across the industry. I think we have a real chance of winning one of the awards this year."

It is the first time that Entanet has been named on the shortlists for both the Channel Awards and the Channel Network Awards.

John Tsai, managing director of Entanet, said: "The fact that we have been recognised for our achievements as a specialist and independent business is simply fantastic.

"It underscores Entanet's arrival as a leading player in the internet market and a business that is really going places."

The Channel Network Awards ceremony takes place on October 16 at The Dorchester hotel in London, while the CRN Channel Awards are presented in November, at Battersea Park.
