The Dye House at Shrewsbury's immaculately-restored Flaxmill Maltings will be hosting the Hummingbird Evening Brunch from 6pm to 10pm on Saturday, April 19.

The event, from which a percentage of the proceeds will go to the Severn Hospice, is being organised by Kelly Goodall and her partner Alex Okorie.

The couple, from Shrewsbury, have put together the event designed to introduce Shropshire's residents to a Nigerian-influenced evening of partying.

Organisers Kelly Goodall and Ikechukwu Alex Okorie were joined by Phil Haigh from Severn Hospice to promote the Hummingbird Evening Brunch.

Tickets for the evening include a Nigerian-style meal - although alternatives are available for those not wanting to take up the West African option.

The event will also feature a bar and street food available to buy.

The evening will offer music in the form of old school, hip hop and Afrobeats tunes - complemented by live hype man and MC performances, accompanied with live percussion on the bongo drums.

Kelly said they were looking to introduce Shrewsbury to a Nigerian-style celebration, and are encouraging people to dress up for the occasion and have fun.

She said: "We want people to get creative with clothing, they can dress up but not feel pressured if they don't want to - we just want people to come along and have a great time."

The event will also feature a collection for Severn Hospice. Kelly said the charity was extremely close to her heart, having cared for members of her family.

Alex, who was born in Nigeria and will be the 'hype man' for the event, said people can expect a high-energy evening.

He said his own role is to bring out the 'maximum level of energy' from the crowd - adding that he would be making sure 'there is never a dull moment'.
