Person given oxygen after Shrewsbury cooker fire

One person was led to safety by firefighters during a small fire at a house in Shrewsbury on Thursday evening.

Firefighters from Shrewsbury fire station arrived at Woodlark Close in the town after an automatic fire alarm was activated at 5.45pm.

One person was led to safety by the fire crew who were wearing breathing apparatus.

The person was suffering the effects of smoke inhalation and was given oxygen by the crew whilst awaiting an ambulance.

Firefighters found a small fire involving items in the cooker in a ground floor kitchen and put it out using water from a tap.

Smoke was cleared by opening the windows.

The incident was declared over at 6.04pm.
