Homebuilder honours the heroes

A housebuilding firm has installed full-sized "Tommy" figures at two Shropshire developments to mark the anniversary of VE Day and support the work of the Royal British Legion.

The figures are in the gardens of the show home or sales office at the David Wilson Homes' developments at The Grove at Doseley Park in Telford, and Drayton Meadows in Market Drayton.

Barratt Developments, of which David Wilson Homes is part, was invited to become the Tommy Club’s first corporate patron through its relationship with Royal British Legion Industries. The housebuilder donated £100,000 as an acceptance gift and has bought the figures from the RBLI to help the legion raise money.

The Tommy Club is an RBLI fundraising initiative and the sales of the Tommy figures support the legion's work.
