Telford Hamfest in 13th year

Telford and District Radio Society’s 13th annual "Hamfest," which attracts radio enthusiasts from all over the country, is being held on Sunday, September 2, at Enginuity in Coalbrookdale.

This year the electronics and radio event has 33 traders and also a Radio Society of Great Britain stand and bring and buy stand. Visitors will see demonstrations of radio communication, military equipment, mini-computers and digital data decoding.

The speakers are Barry Cook, who will be talking about the technology and challenges with building satellites, and Vic Winton, who is speaking about the G-QRP low power GM3OXX construction challenge.

There is also a question and answer internet session with the globally popular online SolderSmoke in America - SolderSmoke is a radio electronics enthusiast who has done books and podcasts.

The entry fee is £4, but free to accompanied children of school age. Opening time is 10.15am.

Organisers say there is limited parking near the event and suggest that people use the park and ride instead.
