Fundraising young farmers on song

Dorrington Young Farmers Club members braved three nights in the cold for their Christmas carols fundraising which raised over £800 in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance and Muscular Dystrophy.

Club chairman Laura Wilde said: “The club has been carol singing for years, spreading festive joy to both new and old hosts. For two nights we were welcomed into 10 family homes of members. Parents invite their friends over and we were filled up with festive treats while singing a few Christmas carols. We really appreciate them hosting us and squeezing 20-odd of us into their kitchens.”

“Then on December 22 we went round four local pubs, starting at The Horseshoes, Dorrington, onto The Red Lion, Longden and The White Horse, Pulverbatch, then finishing up at The Bottle & Glass, Picklescott. We were very lucky that they were all very busy with village meals and Christmas parties to help us receive as many donations as possible.”

The money raised will be presented to the charities in September before the club's annual meeting.
