The 27-year-old submerged himself in a freezing tub of beans to raise money for Children in Need.

The carer at Hinstock Manor Residential Care Home, near Market Drayton, managed a squelchy six hours soaking in the beans. Craig, who has worked at the home for 11 years, said: "I got a phone call asking me to do it and I agreed as it's all for a very good cause. It is a really odd feeling and very cold."

It wasn't the first time Craig, who was dressed in a white T-shirt and shorts for the occasion, has experienced lying in baked beans for charity.

"I did it at school when I think I was raising money for cancer," added Craig, who had to face colleagues pouring jugs of beans over his head on Thursday.

The beans were donated by catering firm Brake Bros, and they were being given to a pig farm in Hinstock after the challenge.
