People living on Brookside in Muxton say potholes in their road are now so deep they go down to the culvert which carries water under the road.

James Postings, who lives on the road, just off the main Wellington Road, said they have been pleading with the council to make improvements to the road surface for three years.

Mr Postings said: "It is a road that has been adopted by Telford & Wrekin Council but it is an absolute disgrace.

"There are pot holes everywhere and we have asked them to come down and have a look at resurfacing it.

"There is a brook and a culvert which carries the water under the road and there are now some holes that go all the way down to the culvert."

Telford & Wrekin Council has pledged to do work on the road and say they are looking for funding at the moment which will make it possible to restore the road.

Emily Taylor, a spokeswoman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "The council is aware of the condition of the road and the issues relating to the drainage culvert.

"The road is inspected on a regular basis as per the highways inspection regime and any dangerous potholes are made safe. An additional inspection will be carried out this week to rectify any dangerous potholes.

"The highways and drainage teams are working together to provide a solution to first resolve the issues with the culvert which will then be followed by resurfacing.

"We are currently seeking funding for these works and have carried out a feasibility study for the drainage and re-surfacing of the highway. As soon as we are able to fund the project, it will take place."
