The 17-year-old defendant from the Newtown area, who cannot be named because of his age, was placed on a two-year youth rehabilitation order, and given a five-year sexual harm prevention order and a five-year restraining order against the complainant.
Judge Geraint Walters, speaking in Mold Crown Court, said he had been hugely assisted by a psychiatrist, psychologist and youth offender team manager. He said the defendant had suffered medical conditions and had complex issues, which had been so far been left unaddressed.
Judge Walters accepted the defendant was remorseful following last summer's offence and had made a genuine attempt to take his own life.
