Man hit on the head with whisky bottle in Market Drayton attack

Four men attacked another man, hitting him over the head with a bottle of whisky, police said today.

Officers say the assault on the 37-year-old man took place in Stafford Street, Market Drayton, between 11pm and 11.30pm on Wednesday.

Constable Ryan Ford said: "The 37-year-old man states that he went to Asda in Stafford Street to purchase a bottle of whisky.

"While walking along the street he was attacked by four males who took the bottle of whisky off him and hit him on the head, causing the bottle to smash."

The man's injuries are not known. Anyone with information should call 101.
