Purse snatchers target elderly shoppers in Newtown
Two elderly shoppers had their purses stolen from their handbags in Mid Wales.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the two women were targeted in separate incidents on Friday, but the details have only just come to light.
Constable Jenny Lloyd said the women were both targeted within the space of an hour.
She said: "Two older females were targeted while out shopping in Newtown on Friday. Both of them had their purses removed from their handbags between 10am and 11am.
"The first lady was inside the Morrisons supermarket in Pool Road, while the second happened in Broad Street."
Constable Lloyd said it is believed the two incidents are linked and appealed for shoppers to remain vigilant.
She added: "Please take care while out and about shopping, ensuring all wallets and purses are carried securely about your person."
Anybody with information should call 101.
