Jasmine Leah Mitchell, of High Street, Newport, was discovered in her student accommodation as she was due to sit an exam at the university in Newport.

Coroner for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, Mr John Ellery, said Jasmine, whose mother Tracey lives in Leicester and father Paul in Spain, had killed herself.

Mr Ellery said the student had been due to sit an exam that morning but only needed 10 per cent to pass and was not unduly worried.

The hearing was told she had been involved in an argument the evening before. Mr Ellery said text messages studied by police included one saying that she was going to hang herself and that this would be "third time lucky".

He recorded a verdict of suicide.
