Schoolboy kidnapped and put in bin after apples thrown at car, court told

A schoolboy, alleged to be one of a group who was throwing crab apples at cars late at night, ended up being kidnapped in Newtown, a court was told.

One of the cars stopped, two men got out, the 15-year-old was punched in the face and he was bundled into the boot.

They drove him a short distance and put him in an industrial bin before knocking it over.

But Mold Crown Court heard today how the schoolboy – who was told he would be killed – was able to text his mother who called the police.

The court heard how police quickly arrested Declan Cluskey, 24, and Dalian Cluskey, 21, both of Crown Street in Newtown, Mid Wales, and charged them with kidnap following the incident in Newtown on July 27 this year.

Declan, who had previous convictions for violence, was jailed for nine months and his brother Dalian, a man of good character, received a nine month prison sentence suspended for 18 months with 150 unpaid hours in the community.

Both have to pay £900 costs.

The judge, Mr Peter Rouch QC said the charge of kidnapping covered a whole range of scenarios.

"This is not a typical kidnapping case," he said.
