Man assaulted trying to rescue woman in Shropshire pub attack
A good Samaritan who went to the rescue of an unknown woman outside a Shropshire pub was punched and kicked in the head by three men.
Police are calling for witnesses to an attack on a man who went to intervene when he saw a woman being pushed over late in the evening outside the rural south Shropshire pub and bistro.
The would-be rescuer was inside the Salwey Arms, off the A49 at Woofferton, near Ludlow, at about 11.15pm on Saturday, July 18.
When he saw the woman get pushed to the ground he went outside to try to help her get away but was punched in the face.
After an altercation he then tried to get away but another man grabbed his T-shirt and pulled him to the ground, where he was then kicked and punched, and another unknown man kicked him in the head.
The victim received injuries to his face and cuts and bruises to his body.
The woman who was pushed was white, between 19 and 20, petite, with blonde shoulder length curly hair and wore a cream cardigan.
The man who pushed the woman was also white, between 25 and 26, with short brown hair and of a skinny build.
The second man who grabbed the victim's T-shirt was about 5ft 11ins with short dark curly hair and wore a blue T-shirt.
There is no description of the third man involved.
