Paragliding selfie leaves Shropshire's Lauren with stunning holiday record

Jumping off the top of a 6,500 foot mountain is not everyone's idea of fun, but it provided one Shropshire woman with a stunning record of her holiday.

Lauren Newell, of Coalport Close, Broseley, was on holiday with boyfriend Mark at the Turkish resort of Ölüdeniz when they decided to try parapenting.

Parapenting, or paragliding as it is also known, involves sitting in a harness below a wing that looks like an elongated parachute.

She said: "From leaping off the mountain to landing took about twenty minutes and it was a fantastic experience.

"The guy sitting behind me at the controls used a selfie-stick with a GoPro on the end to take the photo. I don't mind heights and it felt like sitting in a chair on a very windy day – the views were stunning and we waved to everyone when we flew lower.

"The most frightening bit wasn't actually jumping off the mountain, it was the ride up it, as the minibus flung us around the corners with sheer drops just feet away."
