Fuel-ish mistake as Searchers star in car hitch before Shropshire concert
It was a night when The Searchers were planning to play some of their greatest hits to a Shropshire crowd.
But sadly for one of the members, it will be a night to remember for the wrong reason.
Bassist Frank Allen made the error of putting the wrong kind of fuel in his car before appearing at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms on Saturday.
The band's drummer Scott Ottaway took to Twitter to tell fans how the night went. He said: "Great show @LudlowRooms last night. Great venue. Sadly Frank's car had to be towed away after he put unleaded in it."
A photo uploaded by the drummer showed Mr Allen's Mercedes being pulled onto a recovery vehicle.
The group rose to fame in the 1960s with hits such as Sweets For My Sweet and Sugar and Spice. Other hits included Needles and Pins and When You Walk In The Room.
