Market Drayton neighbour's door punched and kicked in after dispute over noise
A father punched and kicked at a neighbour's front door after an argument over noise and an assault on his pregnant wife, a court heard.
Aaron Robert Fay was seen shirtless and pounding on the door of the flat above his own in Stafford Street, Market Drayton.
Fay, 34, admitted criminal damage and using threatening words and behaviour at Telford Magistrates Court yesterday.
Prosecuting Mr Adam Warner said the victim, who lived in the flat upstairs, had been trying to sleep on the evening of August 2, but was being kept awake by people being noisy downstairs. When he went to remonstrate with Fay, he was chased back upstairs, where he ran into his flat and locked the door.
The court was told neighbours had seen a shirtless Fay punching and kicking the door and shouting: "Come on and open your door. I'll kill you."
The victim called the police but by the time they arrived so much damage had been caused to his door he could no longer open it.
Magistrates gave Fay, of High Street, Market Drayton, a 24-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £200 compensation, £350 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Mr Paul Nicholas, for Fay, said the defendant's behaviour was down to the earlier actions of the victim, and had subsequently led to him losing his flat.
Mr Nicholas said the victim went downstairs to let himself into the flat but the door hit the defendant's pregnant partner.
Fay was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression following a severe assault on him in Northern Ireland, the court was told.
